The calendar is reserved for rides (road or mountain), hikes, club social events, advocacy meetings, educational classes, charity rides, etc. in the metropolitan area.

Information on regional charity rides  (Up the Creek Without a Pedal, All-You-Can-eat Century), tours (BRAG, BRAT) and other regional events should be posted to the ‘Upcoming Regional Events & Tours’ page. Please email any info or links for these events to a Website Administrator for inclusion.

To post a ride

  1. Click on one of the ‘POST, EDIT OR CANCEL A RIDE’ buttons. (located on ‘Home’, ‘Riding’, ‘Ride Leaders’ and ‘Calendar’ pages)
  2. Log In. (Log-in info can be obtained from the Road Coordinator, Tom Jamison or Web Administrator, Lou Pape
  3. Click on ‘Events’ in the left-hand menu column
  4. Click on ‘Add Event’ to add a ride or event

 Center Column – Add New Event Column

  1. Enter title here box  – obvious, but easy to miss
  2. Next 2 rows of the boxes are self-explanatory, check and fill in as necessary.
  3. Location of Ride box – easiest way to put in the correct start location is to use the Google Map box. For example, say the start location is the Visitor’s Center at the Chickamauga Battlefield…
  4. Type in Chickamauga, GA into the Search for address The map will center on Chickamauga, GA.
  5. Hover the cursor over the Search for address box. Click on the X, clearing the box.
  6. Drag the map up to the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor’s Center.
  7. Click on the circular driveway in front of the Visitor’s Center. The address will pop up in the Search for address box
  8. Copy & paste  that address into the Location of Ride box
  9. Fill in Approximate Length of Ride & Average Speeds of Ride boxes.
  10. Ride Details box – Clicking on the ‘Visual’ tab in the upper right of this box allows editing text much like a word processor. Info such as weather conditions that might cause a cancellation, very hilly, flat, mountain climb, etc. goes here. Ride with GPS route links also go here (click on the chain link icon to insert a hyperlink).

Event Details column

  1. Event Location box – the start location address goes here, (physical address or nickname i.e. Food City in St Elmo)
  2. Event times and dates – These boxes are pretty self-explanatory and must be completed. However, rides/events starting after 12 noon must be in military time to show correctly. 1:00pm should be entered as 13:00. (Easy way to determine, add 12 to the start time, 1:30pm+12:00=13:30
  3. This is a recurring event box – click on this box ONLY for recurring rides (i.e. Thursday Night Ride). Again these are pretty self-explanatory.
  4. Event Status – ignore this box
  5. Publish box – everything but the blue Publish button can be ignored in this box. When you’re finished with creating the posting, click on the blue Publish button. The ride will be posted to the Calendar. The ride will not be published if the ‘Event Times and dates’ boxes are not completed. Please check the posting.

To EDIT an existing ride

  1. Click on one of the ‘POST, EDIT OR CANCEL A RIDE’ buttons. (located on ‘Home’, ‘Riding’, ‘Ride Leaders’ and ‘Calendar’ pages)
  2. Log in.
  3. Click on ‘Events’ in the left-hand menu column
  4. Click ‘Events’ to edit a ride/event
  5. Click on the ride to be edited
  6. Change the content that needs to be edited.
  7. In the ‘Publish’ box click on the blue Update
  8. Check that the ride was edited correctly in the Calendar.

To CANCEL an existing ride

  1. Click on one of the ‘POST, EDIT OR CANCEL A RIDE’ buttons. (located on ‘Home’, ‘Riding’, ‘Ride Leaders’ and ‘Calendar’ pages)
  2. Sign in.
  3. Click on ‘Events’ in the left-hand menu column
  4. Click ‘Events’ to cancel a ride/event
  5. Click on the ride to be canceled
  6. Place a check mark in the ‘Would you like to mark this ride as canceled‘
  7. Edit the name of the ride at the top with a “Canceled”.
  8. In the ‘Publish’ box click on the blue Update
  9. Check that the ride was canceled correctly in the Calendar.

To EDIT or CANCEL an existing RECURRING ride/event

  1. Click on one of the ‘POST, EDIT OR CANCEL A RIDE’ buttons. (located on ‘Home’, ‘Riding’, ‘Ride Leaders’ and ‘Calendar’ pages)
  2. Sign in
  3. Click on ‘Events’ in the left-hand menu column
  4. Click ‘Events’ to cancel a ride/event
  5. Click on the recurring ride to be edited or canceled

 Canceling all dates in a RECURRING ride/event

  1. Place a check mark in the ‘Would you like to mark this ride as Canceled‘
  2. Edit the name of the ride at the top by adding “Canceled”.
  3. In the ‘Publish’ box click on the blue Update
  4. Check that the ride was canceled correctly in the Calendar.

 Canceling a single date in a RECURRING ride/event

  1. In the ‘Event Details’ click on ‘Edit instances’. Click on the appropriate date
  2. Place a check mark in the ‘Would you like to mark this ride as canceled‘ box
  3. Edit the name of the ride at the top by adding “Canceled”.
  4. In the ‘Publish’ box click on the blue Publish
  5. Check that the date was cancelled correctly in the Calendar.
